Need Advice for Restaurants and sights

Need Advice for Restaurants and sights?
Hello everyone and thanks in advance!! I will be coming to DC the last weekend of July. This will be a trip with girlfriend and need some advice on what to do. She used to work in DC as intern about 15 years ago, but I have only been up there once. We are staying at Hotel Monaco, near the White House and will probably be doing the normal sights. However if there are any 'must see' sights please let me know. I have read about a Segway tour online. Is that any good? Also, I need some info on places to dine. Looking for something for Friday or Sat night. Not too dressy or fancy, but nice place. Probably Italian or Continental fare. (crab cakes are the most seafood she does) If anyone has recommendations please let me know. Also if they need reservations please let me know that also. One more thing. We are planning on seeing Shear Madness, but want recommendations on that also. Thanks again for your assistance.

Our podcast (below) has a lot of information on sights and things to do in Washington DC - it's essentially an audio guide to the city. It will give you lots of ideas. The Segway tour is a lot of fun. We took it last September, and there is a podcast on it on our site. You can hear what happened to us, and see pictures. We used City Segway, which is near Gallery Place, and not far from your. Dinner options are many in this wonderful eating city. Gallileo is a great Italian Place, as is I Ricchi, but I'd actually suggest you check some of our other fare. Plus these are a bit dressy. You can get noveau American at Vidalia or Bistro Bis (the latter a touch more continental) which is fantastic, but these are also a tad dressy. On the more casual side, my favorites Zaytinya (Mediterranean Mezze type restaurant), Jaleo and La Tasca (both Tapas restaurants, Jaleo fancier and more upscale, La Tasca more traditional) are also wonderful. Nora, in the Adams Morgan Area is American, organic food, and excellent. Consider something exotic, Ethiopian at a place like Meskerem on 18th Street. Casual Italian best has to be Piola, in Rosslyn. Shear Madness is a lot of fun.

The segway tour is a lot of fun - there are a couple companies to choose from. I know that "Segs in the City" is one (the only one I've experienced first-hand), but there are definitely others and they're all good, from what I've heard. For dining options, Poste, which is the restaurant in the Hotel Monaco is actually really great for light french-inspired fare. For Italian, I suggest either Filomena or Restaurant Piccolo. Both are nice, but not overly dressy or fancy, with delicious Italian food! Filomena is very authentic with Italian grandmothers making dough on display as you head into the restaurant. Piccolo is smaller, cozier, more romantic with a fireplace in the dining room. Both are in Georgetown, so they would be a good option for a pre-theater meal is you decide to go to Shear Madness, as the Georgetown dining scene isn't too far from the Kennedy Center. Shear Madness is a lot of fun, especially if you've never seen it before. As for sightseeing, there are so many options and I'm sure you'll hit the big stuff. I would specifically recommend the National Portrait Gallery, which is just across the street from Hotel Monaco, and is really great. It's part of the Smithsonian, so it's free of charge, and the courtyard in the center of it is a really lovely place to cool off and sit and have a drink. It's also open later than any of the other Smithsonian museums - until 7pm. Hope you have a great trip!

What type of footwear is ideal with summer apparel/shorts/t-shirts

What type of footwear is ideal with summer apparel/shorts/t-shirts?
Are we only allowed (fashion wise), as guys, to wear either sandal type footwear, or sneakers of any color? can we get away with very casual looking shoes, or anything more dressy, if we're wearing shorts? What kind of socks should we wear with casual shoes or non-white colored sneakers? socks that match the shoe, ankle socks, etc? This has always been difficult fashion wise with me because in the past I'd always wear running sneakers, or different types of sneakers, tennis/basketball, outdoors types, that you can get at any store,..but they look really dorky and out of place when you're wearing lets say a more fashionable outfit. If you're wearing lets say a kenneth cole/club monaco, armani exchange, or whatever other designer t-shirt with shorts, and possible bag,..and then you have running/walking sneakers on, it can look kind of silly. Also they usually unfortunately for whatever reason design sneakers so UGLY, so that they can really throw off your whole outfit and make you look like sh9t. Any advice is appreciated thanks! 1 day ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details Also unfortunately since you're wearing shorts/short sleeved shirts, whatever footwear you have will look bigger because you don't have the length of the pants to fit your whole body and make your whole outfit fromtop to bottom work, so what you wear on your feet during the warm months REALLY counts. I'm from the NYC area, so a good chunk of the year we're wearing jackets, or at least pants...so when April through Sept gets here...it becomes much more casual...but it's difficult shoe wise,, because I don't want to look fabulous shirt/pants wise,..and like I just went to sports authority.

wow. long question! but no worries. during the summer, sneakers and sandals are your best bet, but if you can pull off like a boating shoe, that would work also. white sneakers are disgusting, they look like orthopedics. never wear them. as for socks, go with either white or black ankle socks. don't pull a German and have black calve socks with sandals. the less sock showing, the better. but don't go matchy matchy. that just looks cheesy because you can never get the color exactly right. if you're wearing nice, sleek tennis shoes, they shouldn't get too bulky with the tops showing. like pumas. those always look good. hope that helps!

ok, well ur question was kinda long, so i just skimmed it. buuut, id have to say CONVERSE are the way to go. they come in, like, millions of colours, and they match with pretty much everything. when ur wearing shorts (baggy cargo r the best), wear the classic black hi-tops, believe me, they look amazing with a vintage t-shirt. if ur gonna wear the ox's (low-tops), find the shortest socks you can, because they dont look very good with tall socks. good luck!! oh, and you can design your own converse at: www.converse.com =D
3 :
don't wear socks with sandals, but it is appropriate to wear socks with sneakers, ofcourse. sneakers should probably be of a more neutral color.
4 :
i agree 100% with the answer before about converse. they come in so many different colors, and you can even design your own on: http://www.converse.com/ they are comfortable, timeless, and come in all sorts of colors and designs, for the most versatile shoe, choose converse!

Is that considered to be gay email for an ex-gf that dumped you

Is that considered to be gay email for an ex-gf that dumped you?
I keep wondering about this everyday. Forget the stupid Skype conversations, messages, or even stupid emails with many misspellings/no revising or rereading my emails, actions, the day i got drunk when i got the money back, and that bouquet that leaked some water into your car when you were with that scumbag. I call him scumbag(because i was played that night i gave you the bouquet, he called me in the morning to tell me that you called him out of the blue to talk abt me and he began offering help that he'll help me get you back and all that shit and he's not going alone with you some, girl is going with him, which later i realized he's fucking playing because you wouldn't call people out of the blue to talk about me, he called you or either sent you a message on fb for you to call). I want to show you a scenario. Lets get back in time when you told me your travelling for 3 months. That night when were sitting outside it was hot and you were angry because i was late because of my exam and you were so fucking worried abt me. ya right! Let's delete the period from the day you actually traveled till today from earth's history. As if it never happened. We r back sitting on your balcony, enjoying dekweneh's hot summer breeze, hearing the people from sri-lanka partying out loud with their glow in the dark one man show. You tell me that you have to travel for 3 months, and i was like first no its not gonna work out. Then next day i m supporting you totally about it. And even i was there to drop you at the airport. What if i said this that night. :" You know what ? Lets take your business trip as a positive thing. Not just for you, but for me too. You'll be wondering y? I would have answered i need a vacation too, I'm just done with the summer semester and Monaco with you for 2 weeks would be perfect. i 'll start doing my papers the next day you travel. You would have been outstandingly happy about that and my total support in that. I would have traveled there lived with you for like 2 weeks, have had tremendous time. And i would have headed back to Beirut to finalize my last semester and waiting 1 and half month to be back here." No am not seeing a psychologist that made come to that conclusion.I do not wanna see any of those scumbags and i refuse you tell me what the heck i am because your not even qualified. I do not know how you could tell someone he's bipolar/schizophrenic based on your internet research or maybe me overspending money. Maybe i was just enjoying my time with you. I know i acted weird when you left me/even when you were there. I know the quality of the relationship wasn't that perfect. But the fact is you made me come head to head with my biggest fear. Being rejected by someone i care for. how many people have fucked up their lives because of that? hein? Its like putting a claustrophobic in a 1 by 1 room for like 3 months. He'll cry, say stupid things, even communicate wrong, maybe lie that hes not afraid and he's good. But finally one day if he didn't die from it. He ll be normal again, and a 1 by 1 room would be a piece of cake. Things i would never ever say or do in any relationship. 1- Ask Why do you love or sharing my doubtful things out loud ? (for me it may look, like i am suspicious or anything but to you its like wth he's talking about) 2- Charity case bullshit talk. 3- Make you believe that i have a low/high self esteem. 4- Have sex in her place 5- Not taking opportunities seriously, i could have built a good relationship with your mom. i even could have asked her if i could add her on fb and be my friend. 6- I could have done millions of things. 7- Clean my belly button everyday. 8- Not delete my fb account like a total weirdo. 9- Act cool when u dump me/or even act logical in my answers not dramatic ("its not me its the environment i live in" quoting me last time i saw you. Stupid lame hableh). 10- Look cool in-front of her friends. 11- Tell you to go fuck yourself when you told me that you met someone outside and tried to have sex but it didnt work out. xx p.s: The day when i told you i was working 3 jobs, doing an MBA, dating you, and taking care of my family. I was right. You told me no millions of people are doing more. You know y i was right. Because i never ever took a break in my life, i never ever traveled abroad, i never did anything for myself. I was tired. I was looking for my mom. was looking for my sister. I just forgot that their is "me". I dated you at the wrong time, which made me act as if im negative or anything. which made me look dramatic/emotional ( i so care about irrational things ). Which made me look uncool to you. Thus you leaving me. What if i was like most people pursuing a career in the right company with right dedication. I would never acted like that.

Wonderful redemption for Kimi and great year for Lewis

Wonderful redemption for Kimi and great year for Lewis...?
I believe after driving literaly the wheels off the car while at Mc Laren(and coming in bridesmaid twice), the title for Kimi sure was a just reward for hard work. Lewis has stamped on the F1 world the likes Senna, Schumacher, etc never did on their debuts. He really won the title, and just handed it over via some bad luck/poor judgement on thje past two years. But let's rewind to Monaco...it was already clear as Lewis reeled in Alonso, a star was born of proprotion seen maybe once in a generation. Alonso...I am SURE the guy would LOVE to have won the title by a fuel infraction if he were in the same position as Hamilton. The President of Ferrari thinks that Alonso is a class act, and that Ferrari DESERVES the world championship...after the fact they willingly took inside information from Mc Laren, and walked away smelling like roses... And for the record...a rookie beat a 2-time world champion...mentally and on the track as well.

Ok I go with teh Ferrari and Kimi deserve it part.

so nice to see someone congratulate and appreciate both a Ferrari driver and a McLaren driver. you don't get many on here. some (i won't mention names but he blocked me) are just so unmoving in their views that they are almost made of stone. I am a McLaren fan and i can still appreciate Kimi drove a faultless race and is a well deserved champion. I love the sport and I think all 22 drivers need to be congratulated, after all they are the best 22 drivers in the world. lets just hope the politics don't spill out on the track next year and the FIA can be more consistent in their decision making. a clean slate, a clean season, some clean fun.

You have some good points there, Kimi did deserve the championship as he drove well when he got his early adjustment problems out of the way. It makes up for the previous seasons where he came so close. Lewis has driven well, but he has made more of an impact because he was driving for a front running team, Schumacher and Senna didnt have that luxury when they first started, they had to make themselves noticed in inferior teams. It has been a good season apart from all the politics and people making McLaren out to be the devil, whilst Ferrari are innocent angels. Alonso has gone a long way down in my estimation this year, bribing his employer because he was outperformed. He would be pushing to appeal if he were to benefit from the fuel exclusions. But the title has been won and should stay with Kimi

I concur, in every respect.
