I'm PACsed (domestic partner) with a French Citizen. The laws changed (no longer 1 year of living together to receive the vie privee et familliale), but i don't know if i need to get a long stay visa before i get the carte de sejour. the prefecture told me i needed to go to monaco for it.. or australia?! which was really weird, since i'm american. i live in france and have lived here for almost a year visaless. the prefecture assured me that i will not be arrested, but to work i need the carte. hope someone can help.. thanks

We don't arrest American......that to say you can remain in France. 220 years earlier we were quite the same country. But in fact to work and may be to be insured by our health insurance you need un titre de séjour You have to ask a long stay visa then come in France and redo the job at the prefecture they are paper hungry to get the carte de séjour. I have the same trouble i'm not married with my american girlfriend becaus ethe french atorney wanted to ask for un certificat de coutume!!!!!he forget that polygamy is forbidden and I became mad In the states I do have to care and do be married may be possible that they deport the french.....all this paper bother us like the driving licence about this subject care With a Licence from Cal fe you will be allowed to drive one year but no more and will have to pass our they are mean. There is a way look how stupid if you have had uyour licence in some states from old Louisiana ask they will convert and turn your licnece into a french one!!!!!!! I know a girl coming from Siberia she never drive a car but they convert her licence. Care the French administration you will not be arrested but can be in trouble for few.

Could a French speaker please correct my paragraph for errors

Could a French speaker please correct my paragraph for errors?
Bonjour! I am currently in a French class and I attempted to talk about a past vacation. I hope this makes sense and I really appreciate any help and/or corrections to my work! _____ Merci beaucoup!

Hi i'm french but I won't correct it for you. Don't take it bad, but it would be like cheating. Mistakes are part of your study :D By the way, your french is quite good, there's no big mistakes in this text, and the tense is right, i think you'll get a good grade ;)

Am I unique enough for selective colleges

Am I unique enough for selective colleges?
I have a 4.04 GPA (due to weighted AP classes) and I'm in the top 5% of my class. I'm a junior this year, so I'm starting to be a bit freaked out over college applications and all that good stuff. I want to apply to a lot of selective schools, like NYU, Brown, Pomona College, Yale, U. Chicago, as well as a few that are less selective, like Loyola in Chicago, UVA, etc. Do I sound at all unique? Here's what I'm involved with: student council, Youth City Council (we work with the city council to help make decisions about our community), SADD, PALs (a peer counseling program), Dutch Dance (I come from a community overrun by Dutch people, long story), theatre, NHS, and orchestra. In addition, I write a pop culture column in my local newspaper, which I really enjoy. I also volunteer at the Humane Society on weekends and during the summer... other than that, I have traveled to Italy, France, England, and Monaco as a People to People Student Ambassador, and next summer I'll be heading to China with the same organization. I know that there are a ton of applicants with good grades and extracurriculars, but does anything I've said stand out? Should I focus on one of these areas specifically in my applications? I wish I could just send in a videotape of some of the hilarious movies I've made over the years in my quest to become a YouTube phenomenon, but I don't know if that's the right way to show my uniqueness. Any thoughts? By the way, this is assuming that I do well on my ACT/SATs.

You're a hell of a lot more unique than I am. You're a very good Ivy League applicant to me. I personally think you already stand out compared to the average high school student. Don't stress too much, you're fine. Just work hard on your college essay. This reminds me...I have to re-take the SAT this Saturday (Oct. 4!)

wow you're very smart and involved keep the good job i believe you are unique enough dude good luck

You may be good enough to get into one of those schools full of overachievers. And have four years of hell trying to keep up to come out as average. My daughter, now 21 and in grad school, took a different route. She went to a small women's college in Pittsburgh called Chatham University and took a degree in economics. A delightful small college on a national arboretum. The difference is that this school requires you to do thesis. Something very rare for an undergrad school. By being very careful to choose a topic of significance, in her case, highway traffic safety, she was able to use her thesis to get accepted to 4 graduate schools. She took the one where she could get a free ride after the first semester. Now that she started, one of the ones she did not choose have found her work to be so important. they have offered her a free ride all the way to a doctorate and a $1500 a month stipend. As well, Stanford and Columbia are making inquiries. She sent a copy o her thesis to Cal Trans as well, which has already resulted in some changes in highway signage on the I-15. My point here is that a less difficult school to get into that does something unique like requiring undergrads to do a thesis in order to graduate can help you more than coming out average in a very competitive school. And Chatham does not even look at your SAT and ACT.

I've got one up on you -- I lived in ICELAND one summer and I'm a certified beekeeper! :-) In all seriousness though, you sound like a very talented, well-rounded student. (The problem is that these selective schools get inundated with applications from smart, talented 4.0 students!) I think the big thing selective colleges are looking for are students who will enrich the whole educational experience for OTHER students on campus. Anyone with money can travel and do cool extracurriculars, but someone with the personal character to serve other people and hold leadership positions will stand out. So...I'd focus on two things: service and leadership. You as the PERSON is what you need to wow them with.

What do you think of these Las Vegas trip plans, all answers and opinions appreciated

What do you think of these Las Vegas trip plans, all answers and opinions appreciated!?
Ok so I wan't to see all that Vegas has to offer and break up the trip in between. I will be ariving in Vegas and staying on the strip at bills gamblin hall and saloon for 4 nights. Then we will be going to Los Angeles for 3 nights to see universal studios and a hockey game at the staples center as well as hang out on Santa Monaco beach. After that we will be going back to Vegas for 2 more nights staying at the golden nugget downtown. What do you think of thes plans? Is it a good way to organize our trip? many people say to do Vegas last but It wouldn't work for us do to the hockey game. THANKS for reading:-) If you don't care then don't answer fatty I guess all of these fat and ugly people who are being extreamly rude are also poor and jelous lol. So sorry you have such a sad life. That sounds like a good plan to me. Just so you know, it does take several hours to drive to LA from Vegas, but other then that, you will have one busy week with lots to do.
2 :
those are great! staying uptown on the corner of Flamingo-Las vegas blvd. for 4 days. Then the downtown thing is cool. That's just my opinion, I've only lived here for 41 years! Have fun.
3 :
Why is everyone being so mean? If you don't have an answer, then don't say anything. Anyway... That sounds like a great plan. It will give you a chance to experience both the strip and downtown. It is also smart to stay downtown during the shorter duration of the trip because there isn't quite as much to do as on the strip. Since you are staying on the Flamingo corner, you will have easy walking access to anything you want to see. Also, if when you are staying downtown, you decide there was something you want to do on the strip, all you have to do is hop on the bus and ride it to any hotel you want to stop at. Have Fun, I love Vegas!

The plan is a good one. And it really doesn't matter if you fly or drive. I would drive myself as it probably won't take any longer than flying with airport time and all. That way you'll have a car in LA and it's a necessary thing in la-la land. And cars do have airconditioning these days. Just be sure to take a jug of water with you in case of an emergency and stop at Baker for lunch and see the tallest thermometer in the world. And have strawberry shortcake too. Have fun. Don't tire yourself out and be sure to plan some relaxing time poolside too.

I just went to Vegas about 3 weeks ago, and stayed at Caesars right across from Bills, I actually did most of my Gambling at Bills because it has lower limits, very fun casino, much friendly atmosphere as opposed to the "upscale professional gambler" atmosphere of the more expensive hotel. It also has Prime location on the strip. Right acrross the street from the Bellagio and the awsome water fountain show. Remember nearly everything in Vegas is very expensive so you might regret staying for so many nights, but if you have the cash and play accordingly you should have a great time.
6 :
Sounds like a great plan. Well thought out and you should have the time of your life. You are packing a lot into a short time but well worth it. It is true that breaking up the Las Vegas experience is not the best way because of the five hour drive to and then five hours back which means you actually loose a day traveling. But you got to do it the best way for you. Come and have fun ... be careful with gambling .. can get the best of lot of people. Actually looking at what you planned is like three vacations in one. WOW !!!!!!! Good job.
7 :
If you are driving to LA, you lose a day each way, and fly just means more airport time. But otherwise sounds like a good plan if you cannot spend the whole time in Vegas before or after you go to LA.
8 :
I have done that same type trip, stayed in Vegas a night or two and then went to California and stayed a night so we could go to Tijuana and San Diego. Then came back to Vegas and stayed in a different hotel. The only problem I have with your trip is the hotels you are staying in. BUT, if you are on a budget those are OK. Bills Gambling hall is right in the middle of the Strip so you can go see about everything from there. And if you are staying on Fremont St for a night or two you'll get to see the Fremont Experience light show. Its been many many years since I stayed on Fremont and I would never stay there these days since I think the Strip has better hotels. But I still go to Fremont every trip to Vegas to gamble because your money goes further there.

Sounds like a good plan. Looks like most everything has been answered in the previous responses. I might suggest hanging out at Venice Beach as opposed to Santa Monica. Really a sight to behold. When at the Nugget downtown, don't forget to step outside the front door for the Fremont Street experience. It changes every hour.

sounds great i love vegas have been 9 times, not sure i would stay down town too long, not that much to see and do down there but as its only a few dollars on the bus should be fine. i would stay away from santa monaco beach, its the hang out for all the homeless people and very intimidating for tourists, the town is amazing to shop and sight see, keep your eyes peeled for stars, jude law was walking next to me when we were there. enjoy your trip
11 :
I do think you are packing a ton of stuff into this trip, so take some time for down time! I have stayed in Vegas many, many times and though the strip is fun...the walking time between hotels is enormous so I think that downtown time will give you more time to see stuff. I hope you aren't taking children with you...they just don't have much fun in Vegas...they can swim and go to movies in the casinos, but other than that, it's not a great vacation spot for kids! Just a tip, if someone asks you to sign up for a time share (they are everywhere) tell them you already have an appointment, they back off fast! Also, wear tennis shoes during the day, otherwise you will be so sore after the first day of walking you won't have a good time...no sandals or flip flops!!!!

Sounds like fun, good work staying on the Strip and Downtown. Check out this site for ideas on things to do while you are there: http://www.askacabbie.com If you want to see all that is Vegas, the cab drivers on there can help you out. They usually have free passes and drink tickets to bars and clubs.
