A dual US/Belgium national residing in the United States, and I will only consider marrying an American women, if she will move to Belgium learn Dutch as a second language. She will have to make the same sacrifice as the American actress Grace Kelly, the mother of the current ruler of Monaco made. Grace Kelly had to sign a legal contract that says that if she moves back to America, her children will remain in Monaco. The American woman will have to sign the same type of contract that says that any children she has will remain in Belgium if she moves back to America. An International family lawyer that will only represent my interest will have to explain her legal consequences of this. If she does not agree to this than the marriage will never work out no matter what. If he can’t find an American woman that wants to do this than the only alternative is to marry a local Belgium girl who speaks Dutch as her native language, and thinks the US is a foreign country to her.

I can tell you what I think of people who post nonsense in YA, and I can tell you what I think of sexist, controlling idiots. But I'm not sure that answers your question.

The man sounds very controlling but he has a very good point. Children should not be moved out of their culture at such an early age and I don't think he's being selfish to protect the children if there was a divorce. So, this is a man who cares about his children and I think this would be a good husband. If they decide to marry and stay in the US, I would expect that he would make the same contract that keeps the children in the US. If he couldn't do that, then his motivations are selfish and that would be a deal-breaker for me.

Why would you want a typical American woman? Unless laws in Belgium are more male friendly than here in the US or Britain. European women tend to take much better care of themselves, look at the average 30 yr old European woman and then look at the average fat, short-haired, loud-mouthed American woman.

I think a man like this is an arrogant azz but hey, if you read the papers that crazy psycho-killer Drew Peterson in Illinois has actually gotten another girlfriend who "believes in him", what an idiot SHE must be, so lucky for you, anything is possible. I'm sure you can find a woman STUPID enough to go along with this, there's a sucker born every minute and especially if you wave a bunch of cash in front of them, you can probably find a stupid woman to agree to do this. As far as what I think of this man, I think you don't want to know what I think of this man, except if he's lucky he'll only go after the stupid ones who can't see through his shallow arrogant class-less head-games.
